Anonymised data licence

The terms we license Vera's scam-pattern statistics under. Aggregates only — never a member's words, photos, username or whereabouts. Version 2026-09-09.

1. What is licensed

Vera grants the licensee a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the Anonymised Pattern Feed for the term of this agreement.

The Feed consists solely of aggregate statistics: recurring scam-script keyword patterns, counts, average risk scores, trend direction, the app or site category a pattern appeared on, and coarse geographic areas. No pattern is published unless it has been observed at least three separate times.

The Feed contains no member content. It excludes messages, screenshots, usernames, profile text, member identities, contact details, device identifiers, precise locations and precise timestamps.

2. Permitted use

The licensee may use the Feed internally to detect, prevent, investigate and warn about fraud, and to train internal detection models.

The licensee may publish derived findings and cite “Vera scam-pattern data” as the source, provided the publication contains no attempt to identify any individual.

The licensee may share the Feed with its own service providers where those providers are bound by equivalent obligations.

3. Prohibited use

The licensee must not attempt, directly or indirectly, to re-identify any person, account, device or household from the Feed, alone or by combining it with any other dataset.

The licensee must not resell, sub-licence or redistribute the Feed as a standalone product.

The licensee must not use the Feed to make an adverse decision about a named individual, to build a blacklist, or for advertising targeting of any kind.

Any suspected re-identification must be reported to Vera within 48 hours and the affected data deleted.

4. Fees and term

Standard annual licence: A$24,000 per year plus GST, invoiced annually in advance, for one licensee entity and its wholly owned subsidiaries.

Enterprise licence with a monthly delivered extract and a named analyst contact: A$48,000 per year plus GST.

Evaluation licence: A$0 for a single 30-day period, limited to a sample extract, no production use.

Initial term of 12 months, renewing for further 12-month terms unless either party gives 60 days' written notice. Fees are reviewed at renewal.

5. Delivery

The Feed is delivered as a read-only web page and, for enterprise licensees, a monthly machine-readable extract.

Vera makes reasonable efforts to refresh the Feed daily but gives no service-level guarantee. Availability is not a condition of the fee.

6. No warranty, limited liability

The Feed is provided “as is”. It reflects what members chose to report and is not a complete, representative or verified picture of fraud anywhere.

Vera gives no warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for purpose, and no warranty that any pattern relates to actual criminal conduct.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, each party's aggregate liability under this agreement is limited to the fees paid in the 12 months before the claim. Neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss.

The licensee is solely responsible for any decision it makes using the Feed and indemnifies Vera against claims arising from those decisions or from any breach of clause 3.

7. Privacy and audit

The parties agree the Feed is anonymised information and does not contain personal information. Should either party form the view that any element could reasonably identify a person, that element is withdrawn from the Feed immediately.

Vera may audit the licensee's compliance with clause 3 once per year on 14 days' notice.

Each party complies with applicable privacy law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) where it applies.

8. Termination

Either party may terminate immediately for material breach that is not remedied within 14 days of written notice.

Vera may suspend access immediately on reasonable suspicion of re-identification.

On termination the licensee stops using the Feed, deletes stored copies within 30 days, and confirms deletion in writing. Findings already lawfully published may remain published.

9. General

This agreement is governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and the parties submit to the courts of that jurisdiction.

Neither party may use the other's name or logo in marketing without written consent, except that Vera may state the number of licensees.

This document is a plain-language licence intended for signature after review by each party's legal adviser.
